The indoor riding arena at Mystic Journey Healing & Event Centre is located 20 minutes northwest of Meadow Lake on Highway 4 to

Dorintosh.

All participants or their parent/guardian must sign waivers before riding.  All minors must wear an approved helmet while handling or riding a horse.  All participants must have a sturdy closed toe boot or shoe and a minimum 1.5 cm heeled boot or shoe to prevent foot from sliding through the stirrup. Wear tighter fitting clothing to prevent chaffing and getting caught on a saddle horn.

Only 4 riders in the Beginner/First Year Rider session

 

Morning 1.5 hour sessions—10-11:30 a.m. *6-12 years*

 

Focus on building confidence and skills in the saddle

 

 

Perfect for first-time riders! Learn basic horsemanship, safety, and how to care for your horse. These sessions provide an opportunity to interact with horses and ride (with a Helper for younger children to ensure safety).

 

Cost: $425/5 days  $350/4 days  $270/3 days

 

 

Max 6 riders in Second year Rookies and Novice session

 

Afternoon 12:30-2:30 p.m. Adults & Children 7 years & up (Adult can ride with their child) Requires a minimum of 1 year of previous instruction for children

 

Focus: create horsemanship skills and learn about different styles of riding both Western & English

 

 

For those who have some riding experience and wish to learn more about different types of riding. Sessions includes groundwork, theory & riding time. Riders are in 2-hour sessions so will groom/saddle and unsaddle each day.  Riders will be given an opportunity to try both Western and English riding.

 

Cost: $500/5 days  $420/4 days   $330/3 days

 

 

Max 6 riders in Intermediate Riders session

 

must arrive half hour early at 2:30 to prepare for 3-5 p.m.

 

Riders 10 yrs & up must have confidence and be prepared to lope.

 

Focus: Improving Riding Skills: Core strength; Independent hands/legs; Mind/body and Horse/human connection

 

 

For those who want to get back in the saddle again and RIDE! Exercises for students to improve strength, balance, use of each side of the body independently and work on connection.  Riders must arrive no later than 2:30 pm to prepare their horse between 2:30 and 3 pm and put away their horse at the end of riding, with minimal assistance. A rider may bring their own horse if coach agrees it is suitable as a lesson horse.
